In baseball lore, are legends and gods - Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Cy Young. The legacy of these men are from generation to generation. But outside of baseball's Mount Olympus, there are other sizes, quantities, have been or will be ignored by history. Here are some of these players, ignored and underestimated.
Bill Dickey, C-Bill Dickey on 5 June 1907 in Bastrop, Louisiana born. He played his entire career for the Yankees, 1928-1946. Dickey won seven WorldSeries of eight, he played in. After his career he led the Yankees for a short period of time and was a coach, Yogi Berra helps achieve the status as one of the greatest catchers of all time.
Dickey would most recognizable names his name on the list, as his number is retired and he is in the Baseball Hall of Fame. But people underestimate how big he really was as a hitter and catcher looking for, often by Cochrane and his successor, Yogi Berra instead.
Dickey's careerLine was .313/.382/.486/.868/127 678-289 BB + with K. His best season was 1936, when he hit .362/.428/.617/1.045/158 + with 22 HR. These sums are amazing, and the fact catcher, this numbers up to the mind boggling.
However, Dickey was also a great eye catcher. Although CS and SB against a catcher were not recorded, many reports say Dickey had a really strong arm. 1720 games, he had handed over only 76 balls. In comparison, the best defensive catcher of all time, had Johnny Bench, 94Passed balls in 1742 games.
Johnny Mize, 1b-Mize on 7 January 1913 in Demorest, Georgia born. The Big Cat was a bat for the St. Louis Cardinals from 1930 1950. He concluded with a series of .312/.397/.562/.959/158 + and a final EQA of .330. His best years were 1937 and 1940. Over the span of his early career was Mize MVP votes in every season.
1937: .364/.427/.595/1.022/172 + with 25 HR
1938: .337/.422/.614/1.036/175 + with 27 HR
1939: .349/.444/.628/1.070/178 +with 28 HR
1940: .314/.404/.636/1.040/176 + with 43 HR
That comes to an average line .341/.424/.618/1.042/175 + with 31 HR
After this "peak" Mize or put up an OPS + five seasons greater than 150 Mize was in the U.S. Army from '43-'45, losing what might have been the prime of his career. Is that the reason he is often forgotten? Maybe. But Mize was a player of all time.
Career Totals: .312/.397/.562/.959/158 + and 359 on HR 6443 AB.
Roberto Alomar, 2b-Born in Puerto Rico on 5 February 1968, is a funny guy Alomar because he had some good years spread out, not of a certain peak. I will do my best to select one and show its other good season / career.
His 1992 and 1993 seasons with Toronto were pretty good.
1992: .310/.405/.427/.832/129 with 49 + SB at a 84% clip
1993: .326/.408/.492/.900/141 + with 55 SB in a 78% clip
His next stop was Baltimore City Boxing, where he had two more good season.
1996:.328/.411/.527/.938/136 With 17 + SB
1997: + .333/.390/.500/.890/134 with 9 SB
But his "tip" was his three years in Cleveland.
1999: .323/.422/.533/.955/139 + HR with 24, 37 SB at a 86% clip
2000: .310/.378/.475/.853/114 + HR with 19, 39 SB at a 90% clip
2001: .336/.415/.541/.956/150 + HR with 20, 30 SB at a 83% clip
Average line: .323/.405/.921/134 + HR with 21, 35 SB
His final career statistics were: .300/.371/.443/.814/116 + with 210 HR, 504 2B, 474 SB at a 80% clipand 132.6 WARP3
Pretty big for a 2 b true? Well, he has not only hit and run, but Alomar was a premium defender. He has 10 GG won awards, and he won a GG in all seasons, but pointed out, 1997.
Alomar cleared Win 30 shares in a season five times and led the league on 3 Occasions. He hit .313 in the postseason (230 AB). Coming into the year 2004 he had 373 career Win Shares, an excellent whole.
Why did he not stand? Well, one reason people do not enjoy the time inSize, since he retired in this decade. In addition, Alomar quickly faded, finishing with five sub par seasons, an image fresh in mind as his fans MVP caliber seasons. Roberto was also good, all-stealing, hitting, defense and stand-out but never. Many people can now remember his name, but does not recognize him as a great all time.
Barry Larkin, SS Barry Larkin was on 28 April 1964 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the city where he would be as big as a baseball player born.Larkin is the third largest short stop of all time, second largest discount if you A-Rod. These figures are good, but ifConsidering it was done by a shortstop, really outstanding. Here is a chart that explodes like the short stop position when Larkin was on the decline:
Throughout his career, reached the average shortstop just .256/.317/.361, while Larkin hit .295/.371/.444 - OPS a difference of 20.2%. Very few players dominate a position like that of so long and only two short stops big names from the past 30 years have seen the rest of the offensive position carried more than Larkindid.
Not only was his bat a bonus of an SS, but he was a defender of quality, to take home three Gold Glove Awards. His prime seasons were 1995-1998, with 1997 will be cut short due to injury.
1995: .319/.394/.492/.886/133 + HR with 15 and 51 vs 5 SB CS. Won the Gold Glove.
1996: .298/.410/.567/.977/154 + HR and 36 SB with 33 against 10 CS. Won the Gold Glove.
1998: .309/.397/.504/.901/134 + HR and 26 SB with 17 against 3 CS.
Larkin should be a HOF'er. And yes, he wasCal Ripken Jr. better than Mr. Despite a ton more HR and 2b, Ripken's slugging percentage is only 0.03 higher, while trailing Larkin in OBP, OPS, OPS +, SB, EQA, RC / G, and that is not Larkin mention was the better fielder.
Similar Alomar Larkin a current player is his name is so familiar. But he should be more than a familiar name. Larkin was a fantastic short stop, which should have a plaque in Cooperstown eventually.
Frank Baker, 3b-Frank "Home Run" Baker, born in March13, 1886 and would like to become a famous ball player for the Philadelphia A's. Not in the same class as Schmidt, Brett Matthews and in general, but Baker is typically a 3b, that people forget because he played in the dead ball era. In fact, he was probably the best 3b before the war.
Despite playing in a time of great Ballparks and Krug dominance because of the rules and regulations, succeeded Baker .307/.363/.442/.805/135 + hit. At the height of his career in 1912, defeated Baker.347/.404/.541/.945/173 +. That same year, the AL-era was 3.34 and there were fewer than nine hits per game. In the context would have been terrific, and Baker would have had a better slugging stats, he played in a different era.
Ralph Kiner, OF-Ralph was born in October 1922, a baseball legend for the Pittsburgh Pirates before you are due to injuries. He is currently a television broadcaster, was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1975.
Kiner is forgotten, because he played only ten seasons, nine with500 + AB. However, he was one of the biggest pounding of his generation, and would certainly made it 500-600 HR had been playing in a position in his thirties.

Simply amazing. Ted Williams created a public with his secret formula, and concluded Ralph Kiner was the 20th best batsman of all time. It's a shame he does not receive the kind of distinction.
Harry Heilmann, OF Born-1894 in the city of San Francisco, the man as "Slug" was one of the best sluggers in baseball history, but called many people do not even know his name. He played for the Detroit through the dead and live ball Epochs.
His final career stats are just incredible. He suggested .342/.410/.520/.930/148 BB + with 856 to 550 K. Heilmann 's best season came in 1923 at the age of 28. Heilman met with 44 .403/.481/.632/1.113/194 + 2b, 18 HR, and almost twice as many as BB K's.
Why had not he known? Maybe it was because he played for a long time, but Heilman is someone who should be revered as a great all time.
Al Simmons, OF-On 22 May 1902, Simmons was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Sporting> News once ordered him in 43rd greatest player of all time.
He was not a good base runner or fielder, but Simmons is a name that never comes when it comes to big names. Simmons played for Oakland in his hey true to an average of .376/.419/.639/1.058/165 with 25 + HR and a .322 1927-1931. Over the span, he missed three times over .600, including .708 in 1930.
Simmons was burning up a career line .334/.380/.535/.915/132 + 2b with 539 and 307HR.
Nasty.
Addie Joss, SP-Joss was born in 1880th The reason is Joss is forgotten, because he played in the dead ball and died young, at the age of 31 years. But if it were not for the tragic death when he could just as well as Christy Mathewson be.
In 2327 Joss was Innings to 1888 hits, 19 HR, 364 BB, 1.89 ERA had a 142 ERA + and 0.968 WHIP.
He recorded an ERA under 2:00 five of his eight full seasons. He was the all-time career leader in whip with 0.9678. He had the secondbest all-time ERA of 1.89. Joss hit a perfect game in 1908 and another no-hitter in 1910. Won 160 games in less than nine full seasons. a longer career, but illness cut short his life had on 31 Think about that again. Finished his career with a 1.89 ERA and WHIP 0.9678! That's over 2,300 career innings. And spit in a time of balls, Joss achieved his success without a change in baseball in any way.

Look back 1908 season. Over 300 IP is only 30 BB and he had 1.16 ERA! It was so good that he is a 205 + ERA when the league ERA was 2.39, the best league was broughtERA during his career.
These men were all giants of the game as the giants of the game and should be recognized.
