Field Player - Download the ball

Recently told a friend of mine from high school baseball coaches me to play that he learned something new about box players, and it was the concept of loading of the ball. He went on to say that his outfield players had more base runners out than ever before in its 20-year coaching for emphasizing these fundamental thrown.

It is not surprising to learn that my friend does not know about his play aspect of the field players. After all, he was an infielder when he played competitive. Also, mostBuses are caught in the first place with the teaching of their outfield players only, or at least to stop the ball affected. Unfortunately, this angle of coaching a glass is half empty approach. What I mean is it relieves the player from aggressively in the outfield. The outfielder had the mindset is to play the ball not him, vice versa.

Outfield players have to cover much ground. You have 360 degree field, they have to strip to catch a variety of ways batted ball. But when bulletsaffected directly or nearly directly on them, they can hesitant and wait for the ball come to them. This puts the player in a "defensive" frame of mind - and usually results in a missed opportunity. I say this because if the outfielder to get the ball to him, most of the time he will not get a good hop leaves. Most of the time he gets an in-between hop that is very difficult to glove.

By loading the ball, the outfielder two very important things for himself and his team. First, he can positionitself, and the time of fishing, much better. Good field players are taught to catch a ground ball after the ball has reached its peak - like the ball back on to the ground. As one of my old coach told me: "There are no bad hops in the air." Even if the ball does not bounce very high above the ground, the outfielder still time to catch the ball while in the air, and as it comes from its peak.

Secondly (and no less important), cuts down the distance of the OutfielderBall travels. By reducing this distance, the outfielder also trims the subsequent removal of his cast. Well, when the ball bobbled or have missed the throw is much shorter, to a base or cutoff man. Base coaches have two indicators to assess the decision was a base runner or shaft to stop him through the floor. This is especially true for third base coaches and their decision to send runners home. Base coaches first look at the distance of the outfielder's throw from the target, then they lookfor the catch. If the outfielder catches the ball but not charged and further away, the coach will send the runners. But when the outfielder catches the ball and is much closer to the target throw, they will probably hold the runners. And here's a bonus: If the cost of aggressive outfielder ball, the base coach can keep the runner anyway! We all have games where the runners saw stopped, but the outfielder bobbles the ball. realize at that time, the coaches and runners, this, theOutfielder has the ball again, with a throw.

So loaded with outfield the ball, they go to the "offensive". Through aggressive and charge the ball, the outfielder increases their chance to get the ground ball (after the peak) and of throwing out runners - and the prevention of runners attempting even ahead. In my career as a player, I threw a lot of base runners. But, I heard a lot more of himself a goal to try to close out the throw distance from myRecharging the ground ball. This significant doubts because in the minds of the base coaches. Coaches: Bring your field players to be aggressive, not afraid. Coach them from an offensive point of view not a defensive.
